London born freelance celebrity Make Up Artist and entrepreneur, 28-year-old Bella Campbell, expands her business and ventures into the finery of feathers.

Discovering a niche in the market, Bella has created ‘Bella Feathers’, a new business designing, sourcing and producing unique feather hair extensions.

Bella Feathers can be found located on the famous Portobello Road amongst the eclectic weekly traders of Portobello Market on most Fridays and Saturdays. Bella image1

‘Instant gratification’ is how Bella describes her latest pursuit:

“Feather hair extensions are a fresh way to reinvent your hair in seconds.

Wear subtle tones to blend with your natural colour or super-charged brights to stand out from the crowd,” says Bella.

Bella was first inspired 3 years ago: “A friend of mine arrived back from LA sporting an ensemble of glamorous feathers through her hair.

“As a professional make-up and hair artist, I am always on the look out for new creative styles.

“I started wearing the feathers through my own hair and people kept commenting on how amazing they looked. Soon I had requests for feathers flying in from clients and friends every week.

“Originally I started clamping individual feathers using micro beads that don’t damage the hair. This type of feather hair extension can be washed daily, curled or straightened and can last up to 4 months,” says Bella.

“Following this I started making feather hair pieces that can be clipped into the hair using a colour matched hair extension weft clip. These can be attached to the hair and removed as often as you like.

“My feather hair extensions are all handmade by me, each one unique as no 2 feathers are the same. I only source the highest quality feathers from several ornamental breeds of cockerel and roosters known for their show quality at competitions and brilliant colours.

“Since launching ‘Bella Feathers’ at Portobello market they have had an astonishing amount of interest and have been selling like hot cakes. People have been buying them for special occasions, nights out, festivals and just because it’s summer,” continues Bella.

Specialising in make up artistry and hair for the last 10 years, Bella is a professional in body painting, period beauty and special effects for commercials, TV and film.

Having worked on sets such as Steven Spielbergs Warhorse, Top Gear, MTV, and Made in Chelsea, Bella has worked with an extensive list of celebrities including Blue, Anna Walton, Richard Hammond, Catherine Tate, James May, Jemma Powell, Katie Waisell, Binky Felstead, Cheska Hull and Ollie Locke (just to name a few).

Completing a degree in Fine Art Bella went onto train at the London Media Makeup School with the BAFTA award winner Jeanne Richmond.

With all this said and knee-deep in showbiz, Bella’s job is far from glamorous.

“My work is all about creativity and transformation,” said Bella. “In my packed schedule no days are the same. I work long hours, days and nights, I love what I do and my passion for it keeps me going.

“Working for yourself means there is no one else to push you so I have to remain focused at all times. When I’m not working on a project for a client I am sourcing new products, replenishing my stocks, researching and practicing new techniques as well as updating my website and blog” continues Bella.

“I can’t sit still and therefore I am constantly looking for innovative ways to expand and evolve my business.”
