Ballgowns, Burlesque & Boys

25 Apr

Beautiful ball gowns, burlesque babes and buff boys all took to the catwalk this past weekend to raise money for charity.

Over £1000 was raised for ‘A Way Out’ who help bring hope, freedom and wholeness to at risk women and young people in the Teesside area.

The show started off with a bang as burlesque dancer Mademoiselle Boo took to the stage and treat the audience to a sparkling performance as she sashayed and chassed to ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend.’

Sticking with the retro theme up next was a 40s-inspired catwalk from online vintage store ‘Vintageous Rags.’ From khaki high-waisted trousers for the girls and bang-on-trend camouflage jackets for the boys this swinging and jiving catwalk had it all.

Wedding wear by ‘The Dress Boudoir’ then took to the catwalk as the models floated down the runway in wonderful wedding dresses. Channelling the latest fashion trends including delicate lace, dipped hems and cut-out features these dresses were a big hit with the audience.

Next up it was time for the boys to strut their stuff. With more suave looks then even James Bond himself could handle these debonair dandies had it going on with their XL bow ties, tailored suits and slicked back hair.

Rockin’ up the runway next was ‘Vintageous Rags’ take on the 1980s. With tye-dye t-shirts, peplum dresses and stonewash micro denim shorts the crowd got really going singing and clapping away to a melody of Queen’s greatest hits.

Closing the night was an evening wear showcase by ‘The Dress Boudair.’ From fancy fuchsia frocks to bronze metallic party pieces and a bit of Vogue-ing from the male models this final catwalk left the audience buzzing and ready for a night of dancing.

Throughout the night guests were also treated to an abundance of delights from the ‘American Cupcake company’ who served up tiny bits of heaven in food form and ‘Nancy Loves Nails’ who transformed party-goers nails from bleak to chic.

The night ended with a raffle with prizes ranging from beauty treatments to a three course meal at Sassari restaurant and even a tattoo session.

The top prize which included a designer dress, a pin-up and photoshoot a full party package went to lucky lady Leigh Smith who plans to throw a dead bride party – so come on girls start ripping up those old wedding dresses!
